X-over

I've over the past month or so I've been changing the system in 99 TL,so far I have an all Alpine system. I have a IVA-D300 In Dash DVD Player, CHA-S624 6 Disc changer, 2 Pairs of Type 61/2 " coaxes, a MRD-M605 mono amp pushing 1 Type R 12" sub. Now this is problem, I want the door speakers to just play my highs and my box to handle my lows. But I cant seem to figure how to set the X-over on my radio. When I go into the menu for X-Over setting it gives me 2 options "HPF" and "LPF". I know what they mean but i can't figure out how to use them correctly. Both options range from Off to 180 (I believe). How do I set these to achieve the sound I'm looking for.
And next question what settings should the amp be adjusted to make sure it playing only lows. B/c for a 660 watt amp on a 12" sub in a slot ported box, I think I should be getting a lot more bass. Any help is greatly appreciated. THX

well, after taking a while to figure my hu out etc, it just came down to reading the maunal and playing with the funcs. you should be able to control the gain, x-over, and sub boost control on the amp itself and the amp for the speakers. they say to turn the hu up to 75% of max vol and adjust the speakers settings on the amp until distortion, and back off just a hair. trust me, it took a while to figure it out. i started with the door speakers at about 80ish x-over, about 1/3 gain, and then adjusted the bass and kept tuning, then set the hu up with the timing distance etc. its not a one setting cures all unfortunatly, just take time, and then you'll adjust more as you listen to it later. i am still adjusting a tad here and there.
