WTF is the deal with the rear speakers?

has anyone else had problems with fitting aftermarket 6x9's in the back? if so...what did you do to fix it? is there a reason that honda/acura makes the smallest f***n speaker holes on the planet?!

what model cl do you have...not sure if it makes a diff. i couldn't fit the infinity 6x9 because the magnets were to big and using a spacer back there was just a pain in the ass. i ended up getting alpines and they fit perfectly.

If you have the 2nd gen, it's not the hole, it's those damn trunk torsion bars. I tried to put Kickers back there, but those magnets were way to big. I had to go with some Boston Acoustics that had a small magnet. The model # is in my sig.

So what now?

So what should I do for the back speakers? I was told by a couple of people that I don't really need them. What has everyone done in the back? Keep 'em stock.......aftermarket or what?

thanks guys

At least put something back there for rear fill, be it 6.5" of something.

Bose blose. I like my Boston NX97's, too. Perfect fit. Less than $80/pair on ebay. I did wire in some 4mH coils and extracted the tweeters to reduce the highs. Bass is more articulate, but you can still hear the EQ built into the front end...

i guess it depends on what you prefer.

i run only the front stage with a 10" sub in the trunk. i don't like the rear speakers ruining the imaging and soundstaging.

regarding the 6x9s: if you plan to run them just for rear fill, you can always install 5" or 6" (maybe even 6.5") coax or components if you use an adapter plate.

damn I got the nx97's also. Nice speakers for the price. Ony problemi have is with my front speakers in the door. I got the whole doors dynamated, but every time i turn up the music my front doors rattle like crazy and it annoys the shit out of me. Makes me have to listen too it at a low volume, or ill just be annoyed with the rattling. I'm just not sure if it is the install, or just our doors.

I want 6x9's

hey guys, thanks for all of your help. I have a pair of infinity kappa 6x9's that i would really like to put in the back. i just don't know what to do about the magnets being too large and hitting the trunk release bar. so for all of you CLers who have 6x9's in the back (that don't have a special small magnet) how did you get past the problem of hitting the trunk release bars?

Sounds like something is loose or they didn't put the door panels back on correctly. A retaining clip is probably loose or something.

you'll have to get spacers to lift the speakers a little. that's the only way. i think you can get them at audio stores or you can cut your own out of fiber board or some wood. i thought about it at first, but too much of a hassle for me.

who did the install? are they components? maybe the crossovers are hitting the door panel or some metal part of the door. open the door and secure the crossovers with velcro or something.

why is that? no sarcasm there. i think, if for show, i would agree. but if the crossovers were mounted securely behind the door panels, they would produce the same if not better effect than in the trunk. i have my boston pros crossovers on the door panels via plywood and they do not rattle at all.

after taking a quick look, i found that the sensitivity rating on the 2 way 6x9's is in the 88dB ball park, so not efficient enough to brag about IMO
