I know it won't be the same as with a sub, but what if you used midbasses in the rear doors, and midbasses with tweeters mounted in the front doors. Would I get more bass than with the Bose OEM system?

I really don't want to lose my trunk space, and I also don't want to spend all the $$$ to add a sub box and amp.

Thinking about going with CDT Audio.

 

From your posts the last few weeks, it sounds like we are in the same boat. Check your PM.

 

I'd put mids in the rear doors but seal it up nice so it's like a smaller enclosure so you get the bass out of it that you are looking for and run a seperate amp to them.

 

I agree with Street, put mid-bass drivers at the rear deck, but make sure you have a sealed enclosure. This will "act" like a sub,
will give you some bass but in no way will it come close to reproducing actual bass from a sub. Separate amp to drive them
would be a good idea.

But a better idea would be to get free-air subs (ie: no enclosure).
Use JBLs, I use them in my other car, and they sound great. Free
air subs are not as good as enclosured subs, but its a good compromise. In fact, the bose factory sub is a free air. Look into
getting a JBL 10" and see if it will fit (I think it will, but not sure). Will need an amp to drive it though.
