if you're used to 2x 12", 8" subs are going to sound wimpy. They will get loud (not compared to ported 12s though), but not low.

The right 8" sub in the right enclosure will definitely sound impressive, especially in between the seats. We've done a couple installs with the JL8W3 in a 2 different Lotus Elises and they sounded phenominal - also just did a Memphis 8" in the trunk of a TL and that sounded VERY good as well.

Don't get me wrong, the 8" will never get as loud as a 10 or 12, but believe me, in the right enclosure it can hold it's own!

dont know what kind of acura ur puting it into , though i just put a custom JL w7 13.5 in my trunk(05 tL) and its not that loud. let me rediresct that. in a new tL there is so much padding that the car absorbs the sounds so well (i guess thats what luxury cars are supose to do)that its hard to hear the base. so just for reference if ur installing sounds in a new tL make sure u have one powerful system so that u can hear it.

8" DD9510 is plenty. I may even be too loud but like you said, that 8" in a ported box will take up a lot of your trunk.

i dont know who put the w7 in for you ... but if its not hitting hard, then its not

setup properly. the w7 in the JL box hits rediculous

my next set up is gonna be w/ 2 RE8's

if i could afford it, i was looking for 2 Custom TC 8" woofers, but i'm looking to have a cheap set up, and spend my money in better places.

there was a pretty in depth 8" comparison on http://www.soundillusions.net/, but i tried searching and couldn't find it quickly

If you go with DD 9500 series, you are going to have to risk one thing - you gain one thing but loose on another. You want bass but you also want to save room in the trunk. This isn't possible with the 9500 series b/c DD recommend ported boxes for all their subs and we all know ported box are usually bigger than sealed. I love DDs! I have a 3512 and it hits extremely hard. Im not sure if 9500 is enough bass for you.

Also DD 9500 only makes 10" 12" 15"

you dont think 1 10" 9500 would it hard....do you have your 12 ported, what are the dimensions if you do on that box....I kinda what trunk space but my big concern is the hieght of the box I want to try to push it all the way to the back seat and bolt it to the back seat thats moslty what i want to do..i dont want my sh*t gettin stolen again
