What type of free-air sub will fit?
What type of free air sub will replace the stock sub in the trunk? I want more bass and would like it to fit well without any modifications. Please offer some advice.
Thanks

If your not looking for heavy bass, DEI makes an 8" midbass driver(part #3084) with inverted magnet that only needs 2-1/2" mounting depth. Don't know anything else about them nor how they sound or if they are intended for IB. Not very much info on them, they are rather new. Also maybe a 8" Morel or Vifa driver for a stock location replacement with an aftermarket amp would probably sound better then stock sub. Might need to add a small baffle to decrease mounting depth.
There is no perfect answer so you are going to have to do some experimenting yourself. I don't think anybody here has replaced the factory sub without any sort of modification. If somebody has replaced stock sub w/o mods, speak up as this question gets asked often.

i did some searching on this site for this subject and i believe you could use the illusionaudio 10 sub which can be used for free air applications but you would have to make a little spacer for it to fit...you can see the sub at www.illusionaudio.com
