Wendy's cam users: how is yours holding up?

So I'm pretty disappointed in the Wendy's cam. I've got the v2 of the cam (flushmount lens) and the thing has all but stopped working. Since I'm using a Dom's box for the switching, at first I thought it was the box, but it turns out not to be. I attached a DVD source to that input and sure enough I can switch in and out of reverse and the signal comes on appropriately.

I'd say that lately the camera turns on 1 out of 5 time I go into reverse. Anyone else having problems with it? If you report in, please let us know if you have v1 (with the lens sticking out a little) or v2 (flushmount lens). I'd like to know if its just a problem with the newer ones.

Either way, I think I might replace it with a Pioneer ND-BC2. Thoughts on those?

I've got v1, and it still works fine. Installed it about 2-3 months ago. The only thing I noticed was it looks like theres rust on the rim of the lens, but still looks clear. Sry to hear about urs.

Reach, I'm glad that you started this thread. I'm in the process of deciding between Wendy's and the Pioneer camera, and am looking forward to seeing who's having issues with either.

OK, a little update to this, from my original post.

I took my camera and my Dom's unit out of my car. I put the camera on my test bench and it works great every time. I'm going to have to say the camera is still working well, my in-car issues must have been around wiring. Of course, no one to blame but myself.

ok cool....so the Wendy's cam appears to be a good one then....I'm still not sure if it is equal in quality to the higher-priced Pioneer cam, but it sounds like everyone with a Wendy's cam likes it...

anybody know where I can still get one of these cameras? seems like they no longer sell on Ebay

Is the pioneer one any good? I can get it at a good price

Also, I can't seem to find a DIY of Dom's module on a TSX. Was there ever one posted?

ask the seller via PM on eBay, and she can usually get you one. Be specific with what you're looking for.

Pioneer one is pretty good too. I'd say the Wendy's is maybe better tho.

DIY is linked in the FAQs for wired installs both at the DVD unit and the passenger kick panel.

I got a cam on ebay, i stopped seeing the color green out of it. Which is weird. I guess i will get a new one if it really bothers me.

...but was it a Wendy's cam? Or just one of the generic eBay ones?

Any updates on the quality of these v2 Wendy cams from the previous posters? It's been some time since many of you have installed them. I'm interested

how is the size of the pioneer compared to wendys. i know wendys fits really well on the TL and it seems that the pioneer is a bit larger. if anyone has pics of the pioneer installed above the license plate please post them so members can decide on what camera to go with.

Dom also has a camera for sale for 195 which is also a CCD camera. supposed to be real good, but i haven't seen it installed on a TL.

POST PICS!!!!!
