upgrade from '00 stereo to '01 stereo? HELP!!

upgrade from '00 stereo to '01 stereo? HELP!!
Already bought the in-dash 6-disc changer stereo out of an '01 CL-S to replace the single CD stereo in my '00 TL. Has anyone done this upgrade? I got a really good price and I want to make the upgrade work. I see there's a difference in connectors on the back.
My '00 stereo uses 2 connectors: 1 rectangular and 1 square. Problem is, there's no corresponding square hole on the '01 stereo.
Leaving the square connector dangling and only plugging in the rectangular one seems to affect the amplifier because the volume is really low. Also, I can't seem to load any CDs.
Anyone done this upgrade? I'd really appreciate tips.
