tsx: bluetooth phone no camera

ive been wanting to install the bluetooth capability in my tsx for quite some time, but have been hesitating because my work does not allow camera phones. I've been searching high and low.. but I can't find any bluetooth phones without camera except for the blackberry 7100t... anyone have any suggestions?

The old SonyEricsson T68i is the one cos the camera is optional attachment. The phone works flawlessly with the TL bluetooth and the Motorola bluetooh car kit.

Unfortunately, the T68i didn't work flawlessly the rest of the time.

There is a BlackBerry (not the 7100T, a traditional BB device) with BT and no camera.

Have you checked phonescoop.com?

for security reasons, BB phones with bluetooth only support the headset profile, but not anything else. So you may be able to use it with the car as a speakerphone, but you wont be able to send over an address book, nor will the phone send over name and number for it to show up on a display.

phonescoop is great you can do an advanced search for a bluetooth phone with no camera and get a list.

whoops, this got cut off:

Most of the phones you'll find will be old models but there are some recent/new ones including the Blackberries already mentioned, Nokia 6021 (not released yet, may not come to the US), Nokia 6810 (not released in the US either, but is available in other markets, cingular carries the non bluetooth version of this phone), and Siements S55/S56, which Cingular, AT&T and T-Mobile used to carry, but no longer do.

You can probably find a S55/S56 and Nokia 6810 on ebay. If you already have Cingular or T-Mobile service, you can pop your sim card into these and go. If not, you can buy these phones seperately from your service and just get a sim card from Cingular or T-Mobile. Somtimes online a 3rd party site will sell a phone not usually carried by the cell carrier, with service activation (contract) with a similar carrier subsidized discount. If that sounds confusing, basically that means that Cingular/T-Mobile give you discounts on a phone when getting a contract with them, but they don't have the phone you want. But a 3rd party store online will have the phone you want, and can give you a carrier subsidized discount.

If you feel like waiting for a phone, the Nokia 6021 looks spiffy of the models available. The Nokia models and the Siemens models will have full bluetooth implementations, versus the limited Blackberry ones.

The Nokia 6021 and 6810 don't support the 850 band so wont work with Cingular I don't think, but should work with T-Mobile.

I remember there being some early nokia models with bluetooth and no camera. Wish I could remember the model numbers. If I found out I will post them.

Awesome guys.. thanks for the phonescoop.com website. A definete good resource in seeing what else is coming out.. I'm hoping the Nokia 6021 will be annouced in the US from this quote..

<from phonescoop.com>
"it is likely Nokia will announce American version of one or more at CTIA in two weeks"

CTIA is March 14th and 15th I believe.
