Tired

just like everyone else, im finally tired of my stock bose system in my 99 3.0, so ive decided its time to upgrade. however, i'm gonna upgrade in small installments, so i figured changing out my rear speakers would be a good start. what size are they (im guessing 6x9s), and can you recommend some fairly priced speakers? and what kind of amp will i need (and whats the difference between 2-channel and multi-channel amps?)?

i'm pretty much totally new to car audio...

First get a head unit, the rear speakers are 6x9's and the front are 6 1/2's the headunit can run the speakers for the time being, you just have to bypass the bose amps, check out tweeter right now if your lookin for soem cheap nice speakers..they have some mb quarts on sale for 100 ..the discus series, tehy are nice for the price

hmm...why get the head unit first? does that improve sound at all? and what do you mean by "bypassing the bose amps"?

yes it will, however you will have to bypass the bose amps when you install new seakers.. the bose system has built in amps for the front and rear speakers, when you replace the bose speakers you have to run it directly from the hu to the speaker...the bose amps are specifically meant for the bose speakers

just do your own research as to what you want first. what fits your car, what in your budget. Then shop around for the prices that fit your budget on Ebay, this forum, and some speciality sites that are escaping me right now. let me see if i can get some links real quick, but i'm not at my comp

Go to tweeter and look at what they got and get opinions and then if you'd like you can order online what you want. if not tweeter try a local shop that specializes in stereo equiptment.
