T-shooting Sub/Amp Issue

Need some help from the team here. About a week ago I was in my car and my buddy turned my stereo way up, without me knowing, than hit play on a CD. The first song has a strong base line and it basicly destored the hell out of my sistem. I am thinking now that something is dammaged as to get the same SP levels out of my sub, I have to have my deck boosing the sub at +12 vs. I used to have the same output at say +1-+3. Something is certainly wrong but its hard to tell if there is damage to the sub or the amp. Ideas?

Sub: Diamond Audio D6 10' with duel voice coils
Amp: PCI 800-5 (300w to the sub)

Any Ideas? Think I could have blown one of the coils out?

Hows the amp hooked up? If it's bridged you might have blown half of it or something. Does it clip at all? Do you have pics of your setup?

my guess is that you popped one of the voice coils. having one voice coil left will probably still give you ~75% of the SPL you had before. amps have fuses to protect themselves if they're being driven too hard.
