Subwoofer

Hey everyone.... I was just wondering if it is possible to change the subwoofer thats already in the car to a better quality one, and if it would be worth while>? If so what one would you use?

Sub

Forget that little 8" Blose sub... and you will not really find anything that size that is significantly better. You need to utilize some of your abundant trunk space and go with either one or two 10" subs (i have just ONE pioneer sub and it hits REALLY hard). I also replaced all the speakers and put in an alpine 5 channel amp.

all of this cost around $500 and was WELL worth it!

Hey thomas, what speakers did you use?
Did you replace the hu? if not then did you have to bypass the eq for the speakers?
Lastly did you do this install yourself?
Thx

I used Kenwood Excelon (sp?) 6.5" speakers... personally i think they sound much better than the polk dx6's many people upgrade with.
i did NOT replace the hu... i wanted to keep the in dash 6 disc changer, and the remote controls on the steering wheel.
I bought an amp, so i went from the hu, to the amp, to the speakers. You can grab the signal before it goes into the EQ (on the stock system the signal goes out from the hu, to the eq, then out to the speakers) get it before it goes into the EQ

good luck

Thx, yea i'm just a little skeptical on the dx6, if they r really worth it. But I'm just wondering how did the speakers fit into the doors, did you have to do anything to the door?
Also, how did you run the wiring to the amp then to the speakers?

I replaced the stock 9" sub with a 10" free-air, powered it with a 350W RMS Amp and placed it in the stock location. It's nothing compared to a box setup, but its definitely better than the stock 100W amp-9" sub combo that was there.

Does your car have Nav? I am looking to do a similar conversion and have the same concerns with the steering wheel controls. However, I have Nav and I was wondering if the voice command would still work.
