subs amps with factory radio
yes i have 2002 tl type s with the factory 6cd bose radio with 2 10 sony xplod subs and a 1000 watt sony xplod amp i notice that after maybe a good20-30 min drive my subs fade out off and on do you think it's the amp maybe overheating or the radio not being able to push the subs i've been told that getting an aftermarket radio is much better for subs any input would be appreciated thanks

1. check the gain on your amp. If it's set too high, you might be overheating the amp...
2. If you can, upgrade to an aftermarket radio.
3. Upgrade your amp/subs... (not required, but you'd get much better sound/bass)

do you mean aftermarket radio? Most are at least 50x4. And when you ask whats a good amp well thats just to personal opinion. Whats ur budget? How hard do you want to hit. I am selling my subs box, and amp out of my car. All for in the 750 range. I am hitting at around a 142 to 144. We need more info to give you better answers

50x4 Max... Not RMS... Alpine's are usually 18x4 rms or so, and pioneers are usually up around 20-22x4. Either of those are solid units. I've used both, and loved each for its respective purpose.
That's not a bad price for your stuff... As for the OP, yeah, we need to know your budget, and what all you're looking to replace...

you dont have to match your audio. I would get a pioneer or alpine hu and then go from there. Like in my case none of my stuff matches. Panasonic hu alphasonik amp dc audio subs. But am I way louder than most around here yes, does some of there stuff match yes make a diff no.... it's all about what you wanna go with and what you can find for what you want to spend. Go do some searching on car audio forums here is a good one http://www.caraudioclassifieds.org/forum/index.php check it out sign up if ya would use my name on1wheel01 as a referral

First off, the concept of the Hu not being able to “push” the sub amp is ridiculous; The Hu does not push anything. As long as the load (amp) provides reasonable input impedance (they all do) the HU is happy.
The fading out after a half hour is a thermal problem; the amp is cutting the signal level to protect itself from damage. The reasons for this are as follows,
Power and ground wires too small or poor connections to the battery or chassis.
Speaker wired wrong or impedance below the minimum that the amp is rated for safe operation.
Gain set to high or just playing it to loud
Amp installed wrong (air flow)
Granted there are always better amps and speakers but you should be able to get your system to work without cutting out.

4 gauge will help I'm running 4 myself but am needing to do 0. So are you going to stay with the amp and set up you have now or get new stuff. This is confusing. I'd say go with 4. If you are looking to get a new amp I'd sell mine for $350 shipped 2475 rms watts at 1 ohm she is a beast

I don’t know the Sony equipment that well (at all) so I’m not sure if it is a real 1000W or a BS 1000W. I’m leaning to the BS side. In any case, the owners’ manual will have a wire gauge recommendation. If you don’t have the manual download one from Sony web site. It never hurts to run bigger wire (smaller gauge number) but it would be silly to run 0 or 4 ga for a 50watt amp. Also check and install the recommended fuse for the amp.

if you're wanting to run door speakers and a sub (or 2) a 4 or 5 channel would be best. The only problem with using a 4 channel is that the rear channels bridged will only put out so much power. If you can find an amp like the Rockford Fosgate Power 25-Life, then it has a dedicated sub channel that does ~900w rms at 1 ohm, as well as 4 channels for speakers that do over 100w rms at 4 ohms...

if the sub sounds fade away, i have no clue what your problem could be. if the amp drops into protect mode, i am willing to bet my left thumb that your subs are wired with too low of an ohm load. check your sub wiring before you go spend a bunch of money on new stuff.

dumb question but i just found a good deal on 2 12's kenwood subs in box 1200watts if i get a mono amp would that push both subs in the box or just 1 12 i guess i'll convert to 2 amps 1 for the subs and a 4 channel for door speakers but i need to know if a mono amp is the way to go for 2 12's or should i get a 2 channel or could i get a 5 channel amp and power everything with the 1 amp the subs and door speakers I not looking to be noticed from 10 blocks away and my windows about to shatter from base i just want a loud clear sound with nice amount of bass from the subs

A mono amp is best for subs. If you can find a good 5 channel, that is an option. I run 2 amps, but I know a guy that runs a single 5 channel. Either way can work great... You're call...
FYI, windows are a lot stronger that you think... If you break windows with 2 10" Xplods, you should be competing in SPL comps, and not on here... You're going to need ~150+ at pretty low frequencies to start breaking windows...
