Streeteffectz added new steering wheel buttons using PESWIX

Added 6 more steering wheel buttons for controlling A/V, TV Tuner Power, TV/VIDEO button, and Channel +, DVD Power, DVD Play/Pause and DVD Eject.

No more fidgeting with remotes while driving...

This is the PESWIX from Peripheral

Press once more and the DVD input kicks in...

The PESWIX comes with a resistor network with 5 resistors. These are used to attach to the buttons which generate an IR signal, acting just like the DVD remotes.

I like it!
I've been wanting to add a tv tuner to my navi screen. What exactly do you need to be able to watch tv? DVD's can get boring at times...

You need a TV TUner.

Check out the one from www.santeca.com ST-1000, that's what I got.

Where exactly do I plug that into? After I get that I would be able to watch TV? Also, How would I be able to switch from navi/video/tv? I have a switch that goes from navi/video, so what else would I need? Sorry for all the questions...

The Tuner I have has three inputs. So with a remote you can switch between TV, Video 1, Video 2, and Video 3. I plug my Tuner into the Navi screen, I then plug my DVD into Video 1, Backup Camera into Video 2, and PS2 into Video 3. To watch video/tv/ps2, etc. just hit your switch to go to video, and then the input into the screen will be controlled by the TV Tuner remote to switch between different video applications.

Mine came with the antenna. You will definitely need antennae for TV reception.

You need to buy a tune, check out the previous posts on this thread.

You can buy the PESWIX here:

http://www.installer.com/acc/

I think it's like $49.

Here are the instructions for the PESWIX install:

Here are the pics:

How do you feed wires through the steering wheel to allow the wheel to spin and not tangle the wires.

Excellent question. You don't have to. You attach the button wires to the existing steering control wire that goes down the center of the steering wheel.

To get rid of the nasty switch, just a 4pdt relay, then the switch is much smaller and all the connections can be done right at the relay.
