stock sub in 00tl
I was interested in putting a new subwoofer in my TL, and possibly a new amp too, so here are my questions
1What is the sub size
2is the amplifer for it internal or external (from head unit)
3does anyone recommend or not recommend this mod

the factory sub is a 9". so you are going to have fun trying to get 1 to fit in the hole. 2nd the factory sub is like 2.5 inches thick, sou you are going to have a hard time finding 1 to fit. 3rd, i would just get a seperate box and amp, its much much easier. if you like the hard way the kicker RMB8 will fit in the hole almost perfectly! and the factory amp for the sub is located right behind the rear seat. i would get a different amp for the sub

ok so i want to be difficult. i have a 12 inch id like to wedge in there, not afraid to cut the rear deck a bit and build an enclosure for the trunk. my main worry is where the stock amp is placed. Is it in the headunit or is it somewehre else in the car

read this thread and you'll learn a lot:

your main concerns (if you want to be difficult and use a open-air sub) is: how you're going to make it fit (besides the diameter, there are issues with the depth of the speaker), wiring an aftermarket amp (the stock sub amp is crap), and learning to use the "search" button... hahaha just giving u a hard time bout the search... but seriously, the pros/cons of what you want to do have been discussed in the past.
