Stock HU info?
I'm curious about the stock HU that came with my 2003 TL-S. Is the HU made by Bose? Since I haven't taken my dash apart yet to reconstruct my current BoSe system into a real audio system, I haven't had a chance to grab any serial or part numbers from the unit.
It is very nice to have a 6 disc in dash changer. I'm tempted to go with a trunk mounted MP3 changer as well but I figure I should be able to pick 6 CDs on Monday that will get me through until Friday.
My inquiry is concerning the stats on this CD player. I'd like to know who REALLY manufactures it and what its CD S/N ratio is.
I'm also wondering if the stock sub even works. I guess since I'm used to two 12" IDQs getting hit with 300W each, I'm probably a little biased.
Seriously though, I wouldn't know there was any kind of woofer in my car. Bass is practically non-existent.
OK, I'm rambling. We all know the stock system sucks balls. Since I'd like to keep the stock HU for the "stealth" install look, If anyone can provide me with its specs, I'd be most appreciative.
Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the HU is made by Pioneer. I haven't seen any specs posted, and I doubt they exist - OEMs are somewhat reticent to provide this info. (Probably because it would look bad compared to good aftermarket stuff!)

Yes bozz, the stock headunit is made by Pioneer. I have seen it with my own two eyes when I tried to bypass the EQ. The EQ box has a BOSE label on it. I didn't keep things bypassed in my case, because I didn't add an extra amp, and the loss of gain wouldn't allow the Polks to reach full volume. However, I have had things apart enough to see what's going on behind the dash.
The headunit has a PIONEER label on it. No model number or anything... just a number that I wrote down along with MY serial number. The number was
Pioneer 39101-SOK-A210-M1. I don't know the significance of this number. It may mean something somewhere with regard to the model and specs... but so far I haven't really tried researching it. I can't tell you anything about the specs of the unit either.
Good luck!
