Stereo upgrades on a budget

I'm thinking of upgrading the stereo but am on a severely restricted budget. Here's what i'm thinking, let me know what you think.

The stock system is pretty good, could use a bit more clarity, volume is basically sufficient. 45W x 8 RMS should be powerful enough. I took off the rear deck grills today to take a look at the 6X9s, not terrible, but the magnet says 20W RMS power. I'm planning on putting some nice 2-ways back there to get some more bass punch. I've heard the rears only get low freq, so no sense wasting money on 4-ways. Then i was planning some nice 6.5" 3- or 4-ways for front door. should help with clarity and maybe some more bass. i'll leave the tweeters and rear doors alone, cause can't hear rear doors from driver seat anyway.

I was thinking of the Sony XS HOP speakers. I can get a good deal on them. Anyone have any experince with these speakers?

Any comments/suggestions for my system on a budget?

Actually the rear door speakers are probably closer to your ears than the fronts. I first put coaxials in the fronts, then a few weeks later in the rear doors. It did make a noticable improvement.
