Steering wheel volume control changing stations
Hi,
I have a 2003 CL-S and I'm having trouble in that the steering wheel mounted volume control often changes the station/track/FF when I try to increase volume. My dealer said it's a known bug and tried a solution they know but it actually got worse! Does anyone know the fix for this
Thanks,
John

Retired. Not available.
I think one of the resistors in your control module went bad. You need to know the original resistance value then check to find out what goes wrong. The HELM has the value.
There is only 1 wire from the control module to the HU. Depends on the button that you press, a certain resistance will be set between ground and HU's sensing input, the HU's logic control will then react accordingly. If one of the resistors go out, the resistance changed and the HU's will react differently.
To control my DVD player, I use the Peripheral unit and add 3 more buttons (and 3 more resistors). Now my HU will increase the volume when I press arrow-down button, next track for the arrow-up key, nothing for aud/channel button, vol up for 1 of my added-on buttons and more but I dont remember right now.

the problem is the ground through the stering wheel dosent make full contact you have to dimple the copper shield behind the cable reel. If the dealer didn't fix the problem bring it back they should fix it. I work for acura. You might have a problem with the swicth it self

I have the same problem.

Did this ever get resolved? I have the same issue and would like to get it fixed. I was thinking of trying the dimping of the copper shield described in Acura Service Bullietin 03-015 if that eventually fixed it for you.
Thanks.
