Steering Wheel Controls + Aftermarket Deck
Has anyone successfully got all the controls on the steering wheel to work with a aftermarket deck ? I am able to get the volume to work but it doesn't increment as fast as the factory deck. Any ideas / Input?

Yeah, I've gotten all three buttons to work. The track advance button can be programmed to serve any function on the wireless remote of your deck. I used it for a mute, as the mode (CD/changer/FM/AM) button. The single track advance does not serve much purpose for me. One of the few disappointments in the Acura is the lack of full function steering wheel controls. As for the volume problem. The factory deck has fewer the twenty possible volume settings. Depending on the brand of deck that you are using, you could have as many as 80 possible volume settings. So while each press of the button still changes the volume one postition, the variation between positions is different. Not a problem, just more time holding the button.

Well I have a Pioneer P920-R and it maxes out at volume 40. Since its takes forever to adjust the volume with the steering control I was wondering if I could program it to adjust by like a increment of 3 or something. I also would love to know how you were able to program the other button as it would be a nice feature to be able to change that around at will.

You can program the middle steering wheel button (track advance) to control any function on your wireless remote. The integration piece that I use is Lightning Audio but it is made by PAC. As for the volume increments, you can only increase the volume at the same increments as you can by wireless remote. I truly wish that Acura would have placed at least three more audio controls on the steering wheel, so that I could program more functions.

You can add more buttons with resisters to the original control like I did for a total of 7 functions --Using the PAC device (it will accept 17 functions)
3 on top and 2 on each of the pods.

I was thinking of fiberglassing over it. Gut it, and use the rgm-1 gain control for my amps there. Cut a hole where I had glassed it and mount it so that only 1/8 inch shows from the top.
What do ya think?
This thing is taking forever. Hopefully one more week and I will have pic's for everyone.

While not quite the factory look that I was hoping for, I must say that Eq has a slick idea. True, just variations in voltage control functions. Have you actually taken apart the control housing on the steering wheel to see if there is room for a momentary rocker? I almost wish that I had not seen that as it will only add to the list of things for me to contemplate at 2a.m.. Creative idea and nice execution. Thanks and keep the ideas coming.

if u guys run the wires inside the steering wheel, how do u get around the problem of the wire being twisted every time u turn? it will wear out quickly if it twists every time

I will assume that is why your horn never works after two months. I'm not trying to be sarcastic, but you get my point. There is already two wiring harnesses running into the steering wheel. All that you have to do is run your wires along side of the factory with a little bit of slack to allow for plus or minus 100degree turns from resting. Not as difficult as you think at first.
