Stage 2 Of Avic-n1 And 100 More Mod Pics

OK I FINISHED STAGE 2 OF GETTING THE AVIC-N1 INSTALLED. ALL THAT IS LEFT IS TO PAINT THE FACEPLATE TO MATCH THE REST OF THE DASH. SO CHECK OUT WHAT I DID HERE:

http://web.njit.edu/~mxl4729/other/tsx/

IT IS UNDER HEADUNIT AND SCREEN

ALSO CHECK OUT THE REST OF THE PICS

ONE THING I AM STILL LOOKING FOR IS A PLACE WHERE I CAN PICK UP THE VSS (VEHEL SPEED SENSOR) SIGNAL. I HAVE MADE A COUPLE OF POSTS AND ALL THE ANSWERS I GOT DID NOT WORK. SO IF ANY ONE CAN HELP ME IT WOULLD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Dude... I think you might be working on that dash a bit if the pics do it justice. You might want to experiment with Bondo and sanding to get your shapes where you want them and then either vinyl-wrap it or texture-kote it and paint it.

Ambitious project, though.

I'm just curious, in the pics it looks like you siliconed in the piece of acrylic on th box? Is that what you did? How thick is the acrylic?

I used regular homedepo Plexiglass 30 bucks for a huge sheet about 3/16 of an inch thick. I cut it down to be about 4 inch bigger then the JL on each side. I then took regular 100% silicone (it is black because I used it in the inside of the box to match the black paint) and ran a thick bead about 2 inches in all around. I then drilled on each side of the JL just through the Plexiglass. Then using some wood screws with washers so I would not crack the plexiglass I tightened down the screws. I then siliconed around the edge of the glass and finished assembling the box. And let me say the box sounds so good and hits so hard. Just to see what it could do I cranked it the other day and had a dime on the truck bouncing about an inch in the air. Also as an update I bought ten 6 inch blue neon’s that are going in tonight and will have pics up soon
