Sirius
Had a Sirius Starmate Replay installed in my Acura 2004 TSX. I have to turn the Sirius down, or I receive static in my speakers when my radio volume is turned up. The quality of my regular stereo, through the speakers, is much better. I have a FM modulator, and an installer told me that was the problem. He said the quality is better when it is directly hooked into the stereo through the AUX button. He then said that this was not capable right now with Sirius, only XM.
What should I do? Will I continue to have to turn my radio up to the highest setting, and turn my Sirius radio down, to achieve no static?
Also, even when I turn the Sirius down; the quality is still an issue.
Thanks

its possible, all you need is the blitzsafe adapter for your car, then you can use the AUX. Try www.logjamz.com or just search around here for blitzsafe. It basically gives you an RCA input with which you just use an RCA (red/white) to 1/8" (headphone) cable which plugs directly into your sirius starmate. Hope that helps

I just got the Starmate Replay installed using the Aux (with the Blitzsafe adapter), and I'm having the same issue. It might not be as bad as what you're describing, but I do have to turn the volume on the Replay unit to about 75% - any higher, and I get that static. So then from there I use the stock volume, but it is much lower than the AM/FM/CD volume, so if I switch modes and forget to turn the volume down I get blasted.
The best way I can describe the audio of the Sirius is that it sounds like a very clear AM station. Doesn't sound nearly as good as my FM or CD.

So you hit the AUX button whenever you want to listen to it?
You're not listening to it through an FM station right?
If the volume is too low, you can put in a line driver to help boost the signal going from the starmate replay into your blitzsafe.

It's funny you ask that though, because the way it sounds, I feel as if I'm using the FM Modulator, but I'm definitely not. It's very disappointing.

Hey, i have the same exact thing. Right now my sirius has quite a bit of static, cause it is not directly hooked up to the radio. MY installer told me he got a new piece in (im not sure what it is) that can be installed so it is connected directly into my radio, without the use of a switch to activate it.
THe way im setup is i just set the FM signal to a channel, and preset it as if its a radio station. For example, right now i use 90.1 and whenever i tune into that radio station and my sirius is on, i have sirius playing....

Someone stole "My Garage"
I have the same problem -- Sirius Starmate, just installed today. Full reception from the satellite, but the sound quality sounds REALLY REALLY poor (like a 64 kbps mp3) and also, the FM modulator sounds tinny and staticy.
I don't want to hard wire anything using a Blitzsafe adaptor, because I'm not even sure I like Sirius (or satellite radio, period), as the compression of the audio is extremely noticeable and irritating.
Anyone know if a separate FM transmitter (not the built-in one) will help boost the signal so at least the static is gone (I'll deal with the compressed audio by cancelling my service if it comes to that, but I want to at least try it first).
Anyone?
Thanks,
Eric
