Replacing Stock Stub With Aftermarket
So, i read the DIY thread and it looks easy enough to replace the stock bose sub with an aftermarket and amp.
Questions i have are,
since Kicker discontinued the RMB8 model sub ( i think thats what it was called) what would be the next best thing in the 8" range with a no greater than a 2.25" mounting depth, seeing as I am not about to take out my tension bar.
Also, what amp would be right for the job.
I know a mono amp would be right, but what brand is the best and could pump out the best sound from the 8". Sound quality is more important than the capacity to bump my car to pieces.
I am moving soon and need the trunk space so a box is out of the question. plus, its nice having trunk space.
Thanks
Mike

I've been wondering which is the best 8" shallow sub as well.
Here are a few more that would probably fit in the stock enclosure for you to think about:
Pioneer TS-SW841D
Kicker CVT8
Kenwood KFC-XW800F
based on the specs of these I'm personally leaning towards the Pioneer

BTW, the pioneer has the highest power rating and the greatest frequency range of the ones I found. Mine is powered by a rockford 300.2, bridged at 4 ohms it puts out 300w and the peak power on the pioneer is 500w. Overall I was very pleased with my setup.

that's a pretty loaded statment. "it has lots of power" is not enough info for anyone to tell you if this sub will be good for your amp. A mono amp will def. work, but you need to know how much power it makes at 4 ohms.
