quick question
tried searchin and couldnt find a solid answer so please dont bitch but just wondering if you could hook up subs and an amp to the stock 97 2.2cl deck..will i need any extra equipment for the install? and also if anyone has this setup or has heard it, how shitty is it? on a rather tight budget and id rather not spend money on a new HU.

I'm sure you can do it. There are 2 ways to hook up an amp. You can use the RCA's from the back of most of the newer HU's. I'm not a 100% sure that your stock one will have RCA's in the back. So it is best to change the HU.
However, you can get an amp with a speaker level input. Like this one below (look at the plug on the right side).

If you're trying to stay really cheep, you can probably pick up a powered sub-woofer system for less than the cost of an amp, sub and sub enclosure. Like thse....

Personally I would spend some extra cash and get the amp, sub and enclosure. Later on you will be able to use the same stuff when you upgrade your HU.
Hope this helps.

yea thanks man..i actually already have 2 12"kicker compvrs in box and an older kenwood amp so i doubt that has the speaker level input. ive read elsewhere that my stock deck has no RCA's so im thinkin ill just go ahead with a new HU rather than new amp with speaker input...are there any other alternatives? like RCA adapter or somethin for my deck?
