Problem with Alpine 9833 head unit
I just installed an Alpine 9833 head unit in my 2003 acura CL. I love the deck so far but I have a problem ..
I am getting like NO bass output from it ..
The alpine is hooked to my stock mids and highs, with the addition of a JL 500\1 and JL 10w6v2. This sub and amp were connected to my stock system with a line output converter for a few months before I bought the alpine deck, and the sub was fairly loud. Now with the alpine deck, it is barely audible.
I have the gain on the amp up 3\4's and the sub level adjustment on the deck up to 15 out of 15. I am stumped. Is there something I'm missing?

Do you have the xover adjustment on your amp set properly? I assume the sub is playing at least a little, right? Do you have the RCAs plugged into the correct set of outputs on your HU? Sounds dumb, but it could be the problem.
No the sub is definetly playing. The RCA's are definately plugged in the right spot on the HU
I have the xover on my amp set to 200hz, the highest it will go, because I am using the HU's crossover instead. So the amp never sees anything higher than 80hz.
I am stumped!?

plug in one of the rca's from the front or rear outputs to see if something might be wrong with the signal being put out by the sub channels. THe RCA could just be bad or shorted somewhere.
Yeah, I think it has something to do with the signal. Either grab another set of RCAs and run them outside the car as a test OR plug the RCAs into the front or rear outputs and see what happens.
Also, does your amp have a HP/LP/Bypass setting on it? Maybe you have it on HP by accident?

we fixed it today, we had to go into the settings and turn the mids and highs down independantly and then the subs came in at the same time. so now by the time the interiors get loud the sub is at about the same level

The problem is that our stock speakers are 2 ohm. All aftermarket speakers are 4 ohm, which is what the alpine is made to work with. So the mids and highs were twice as loud as they should be. This is why I couldnt turn it up loud enough to get good bass output.
I went into the EQ and turned down the output level of my mids and highs, and left the sub up. Sounds decent now. I can turn the volume up higher and get bass output. Now I just need some JL components and 6x9's......
