Notice a lot of bass rattle in the base ILX 6 speaker stereo. Wondering if it would clean up the sound a bit to do some dynamat on the front doors.

Then since I have the door panels off, is it worth replacing those mid-bass speakers with something better (but economical)? Like a 6 3/4 Rockford Fosgate Punch 2 way?

sound deadening material is always worth the effort if your willing to put in the work, Dynomat is like Nike so its the name brand of sound deadening and is pricey. i just ordered some Norico sound deadening (ebay) that was recommended by another member and its pretty decent stuff, i got 10 square feet of it for $22.

as far as replacing the speakers i would so with a mid-bass driver for the doors since they work in conjunction with the tweeters working more like a set of component speakers. sadly however the factory amp would not be enough power for them and you would need to run a aftermarket amp to run them.

i did the roofing method in my cls6. much quieter inside and less bass rattle. i put it in both front doors and under the trunk lid.

I'd love to know myself. I'm debating doing the floor for road noise.

I did it about a month ago on the front doors, changed out the front mid's for pioneer 2 ways. Sounds a lot better and cleaner.

Any difference to road noise? That's my biggest reason for doing it. I'm debating doing the floor.

I bought the Ballistic hollow point kit from ebay and covered the entire rear deck on my CL, top and bottom, plus a little on the wheel wells. As for road noise, just from doing what I did, there may be a difference. Road noise never bugged me, so I don't notice it too much. I'm assuming it helps though, because there is a lot less noise outside of the car when playing music, so I would assume it would do the same for noise coming in. Just a note for SQ, mind you I still have the stock Bose system, I noticed a pretty big difference in sound and bass coming from the rear speakers. It is a little off now though, the rears are so loud that you can barely tell the front speakers work. Gotta do the front doors to balance out the equation. The weight of this stuff can add up quick, but if that's not a concern, I say it couldn't hurt at all if you're willing to put in the time

Well for a 2016 ILX adding let's say 150 lbs. how much difference would that weight result in?

I would recommend just getting a Dynamat door kit and basically using 1/3rd of each sheet just to put around the mid-woof itself. You can also use it to seal up holes around the woofer in the door ( 2 inch strips ) to create a sort of " box " ... This way you're not putting on a lot of weight. With the rest of the product, I would recommend cutting it into 2x8 inch strips and placing them in hidden places like under panels and even a strip behind your license plate. I am running 1300 watts in my camry and only have 1 and a half door kits worth of DynaMat in the entire car with hardly ANY rattle at all. Just play the music loud when you are putting the strips on.
