Precision Power amps, Good or Bad??
I will be buying a subbox from CJams soon and rather than buy another amp and have two, I am debating selling my PG and getting a 5 channel Precision Power amp. I dont know a whole lot about them but they seem to be of very good quality according to most boards I looked at. Anyone here have any experence with these amps?

So what about it is bad as there are few 5 channel amps out there and at an $700 price point it cannot be total crap, Is it underpowered, won't last, please elaborate.

I love when people ask for free advice and then complain about it.
The amps used to be fully regulated and designed and made in Arizona. Those designs gave them their good reputation.
They were bought by another company, one that is really not an audio company, and instead of being designed in house, they are largely designed by their now-Asian manufacturers. Some external industrial designers make the heat sinks each time they change, but there is no innovation or leadership in the designs any more - it's perhaps not crap, but for their price (which is still set by their reputation from years past, no longer relvant to current product) there are better products out there.
Besides, what do you need a 5-channel amp for? Rear speakers suck anyway.

I was not complaning, I just wanted to know why he though they were a bad brand of amps as it is helpful to know that an amp is bad because of say personal experence rather than a friend of a friend.

wasn't PPI bought out by DEI?
DEI still makes some very good quality audio equipment, but just because they are new and running new designs, i would still be hesitant in buying their new products.
old school ppi amps are some of the best amps ever made though. Some people still swear the old ppi art series were the best amps EVER made, and more than make up for their ugly looks. haha
