Is it too much hassle to change up the headunit? It looks like the system is mounted flush..and it already contains 6 disc cd.. so i'mw ondering if it's worth it to put in a head unit..or is there any way that a unit could utilize the std options already included. thanx.

If you change the headunit, you will need to change all the speakers also. Factory Bose speakers are designed to run with the factory Bose amplifier.

You can keep the stock Bose speakers put an amp bypass will be needed. They stock amps to your speakers are not on your stoock head unit. They are under your rear seats.

 

There's no amplifier under the seat. The only amplifier in the back is behind the rear seat, and that's only for the subwoofer.

 

I heard the 2nd gen. TL has two amps, one behind the head unit and the other behind the rear seat for the sub.
