Angry Poor Sound/Static for some songs (CDs)

I've noticed that I get static on some songs from some CD's. Some songs are fine, yet others have static (similar to radio static). Any thoughts!!!!!

Note: all of them were converted from MP3 to Wav.

Compressing a CDA stream and then decompressing it back can have bad effects. I sometimes do the same, all my mp3s are in 192 - 224 kbps (cbr), and I'm often unhappy with the SQ.

I guess the easy answer is: don't do that! What bitrate are you using? Are you using EAC/Lame for your compressions/decompressions? (EAC is a free front end for the free public domain encoder called Lame, widely believed to be one of the best available).

One note: I've come to the conclusion that mobile mp3 players still have some evolving to do. One of these days I need to get some headphones on my mp3 player and see how it really sounds with well-compressed files. I'd say to listen to the offending tracks on your home system and see how they compare there.

yeah i agree w/ DerrickM, the whole compressing/decompressing does take a bit out of ur SQ. also, check if ur CD's might be a lil dirty, mine were and i heard some ticking sounds which cleaning got rid of.

My MP3's are in 128 or 224 kbps and I dont know what I'm using for my compression/decompressions since my mac has preloaded softare that does everything. Thanks for the info. I guess the best thing is dont convert mp3's back to wav and just keep them in wav (if thats how you got the music!!).
Another question: Can music of poor quality (converted from mp3) be of drastic effects in the long run on your stereo (ie. in my TSX), and would it be better just to use the original source from the CD. Cause there are some services, like mac/apple provides where you can purchase mp3 music for $0.99. Would I sometimes get the same problem converting this music to wav and listening to it in my car. It seems like once in mp3, it should stay that way.

Playing lower-fidelity MP3 files will not hurt your stereo.

I would do a search at the Apple Knowledgebase...
