OMG it never gets done.

This Audio fanatix stuff can get someone in some serious trouble. Now I am getting new amps a JL 500/1 and 300/4. I just wanna have the JL look in my trunk and was reading about all the features the amp has. I am gonna be paying less for the JLs then I did for my fosgate amps. Now to find some prey for my fosgates first.

How do you like that 12W7? Do you think the 500/1 will be enough for it? Once you get your amps, you will have same setup that I have. I have the pair of ID12's now but, would love to switch to a single 12". I just want to make sure it would have enough output. What do you think??

I was debating the same thing and I called up JL and talked to there tech support and this was his responce. 500/1 or the 1000/1 will work great. With the 1000/1 you will notice a 3-4 db increase in sound. And according to them thats not alot and our ears cant tell that big of a difference bewteen that. Also they said the 500/1 will is a regulated amp and will give at a 500+ watts at voltage rating of 11-??? My cap display in the trunk usually reads 14.1 volts and 13.2 when the bass is hitting hard. So is it tru that the 500/1 one is compared to other companies 800 watt amp.

So far I love the W7 I never put in the fosgate 1000bd on it. I still have my 500bd powering it. since its a 3 ohm woofer the amp is only sending it about 425 watts correct. I mean it still moves and sounds good. Another reason I dont want to get a 1000 watt amp is puttin strain on the electrical system. If I do not like the 500/1 I have a 30 day upgrade policy where I can exchange my amp.

What made you decide to go with the 300/4 instead of the 450/4?

hey gimmesomesugar that 300/4 is way under rated.. i have one pushing my boston pros and the thing is like 1/2 the way up and it pushes those speakers really good... not to mention that the 500/1 and 300/4 are the same size so it will make for a neater looking install... well at leasth that is the reason i choose it... dont know about dnd...

hey dnd that 500/1 will push that 12w7 pretty good... you should be sending somewhere around 600w to it with that 500/1.... one of my friends has that same setup and it hits pretty good... makes my 12w6v2 look sick...

I am going with the 300/4 and 500/1 is due to my amp rack. My amp rack was built on the rightside of the trunk where the tire jack stand use to be. The Rockford 550x and the 500bd are almost the same size as the JLs so that was a big part of my decision. Also the 450/4 is pretty damn costly and like shawhite said i like the amps to look the same.

Not sure. I like the fact that the IDMAX is quite a bit cheaper. I am also about to install Diamond components up front so, I may look at what Diamond would have to offer in a single 12".

The M6 is a nice woofer or TDX but need alot more power. Do you think you will like the M6. The M6 runs about $250 bucks correct. Well I know the dealer here will sell it for $250.

I have not checked at all on any Diamond subs. I do not even have the new components yet. They should be here this week so, the sub would be a ways off.

Right now, I have my Image Chameleons in the MDX running off the Alpine IVA-C800. It will do until I get my 300/4 back.

And yes, I have a 300/4 for each vehicle. I have a 500/1 for the TL and a 250/1 for the MDX. Can you tell I like the JL amps. They just sound so sweet and clear.

Hey guys do u think changing RCA would make a differ in SQ. I right now have just some really cheap ones that the audio place installed. Now since Ill see all my wires with the JL amps I am thinking about gettin better lookin RCAs. Would I notice a difference in Stinger Bullet and Stinger Hyper interconnects?

In my opinion, no. You would not be able to tell a true sound quality difference. However, it could appear to sound better because better cables will cut down noise. Does that make sense??

Hey Man. I hear ya. JL Amps are the sh*t. Thats all i have too! I have a 500/1 powering two JL W3 12's, and a JL e4300 powering my Focals. I just sold my TL, and I am getting all of this put in my Denali today. Its gonna sound great. I also have a custom made slot ported box, with the JL insignia on the top of the box. It looks really clean. I can post pics when I get it all installed today. I have a feeling that its gonna sound awesome.

I can not say for sure but, I know that I have seen a reduction in noise when I switched to good cables. I am using Rockford Twisted cables in one vehicle and some Scosche EFX's cables in another. The Rockford's are actually directional, meaning you have to point them in the right direction. If you are using very cheap cables, I think you could hear a difference.

hey ddubb nice rims.... personally i would have went with 24 on the denali but that is just me... but those rims are hot... also cant wait to see pics of the install...

dnd for you question will quality rca make a big difference in sound quality... i would say not a dramatic difference but it can be an audible difference... if you have the super cheap no name black rca's that some installers love to use cuz they are cheap or they just have them laying around then i would say deffinately upgrade to some decent rca's... (monster cables, streetwires, phoenix gold, scosche, rockford, etc... if you really have money then go with the kimber kables or ixos....) me personally i have always used streetwires... they are medium grade and usually run cheaper than the monster cables... i dont know if it will take away the alternator noise but it might... another thing do you have your power wire and rca's running down the same side of the car... if so when you upgrade the rca's switch them to the other side of the car... it is a good rule of thumb to try to keep the power wire away from your signal wires when ever possible..

I have used the Stinger Hyper's. They are really good. I would still be using them but, they were too short.
