OMG AMP problem
ok.... so i have one 12" infinity (forgot model number) along with a stoopid Bazooka 400 W amp... yes thas correct.. Bazooka AMP. I had it for about 7 months now with no problem. But now juss b4 wen i was driving.. i noticed that my music was sounding funni... MY SUB wasnt working.. i pulled over and poped my trunk open and saw a red LED on my amp.. usually its green... but for some reason its red.... so i unplugged everything and it still wouldnt work till i pound on it a few times.. then all of a sudden the light became green again... so now, the problem that i have is the amp... for some reason.. i have to push down the amp for it to work... i tried banging on it a few times real hard where the led was lit up green for a while untill my sub started to pound then it shook the amp and became red... Cause? Cure? Replace amp? im bout to put a dumbell and tape it to my amp. lol

Maybe you're not pounding on it hard enough. Was it hot to the touch? Did you check all your connections, especially the ground? Does the manual say what kind of protections it has (thermal, overload, short circuit, etc.)?

It sounds like a cold solder joint to me.....only reason I say that is because you're saying it starts to work again when you bang on it. If, in fact, it is a cold solder joint, the red led is coming on and putting the amp in protect mode because of fluctuating impedance.
I could be COMPLETELY wrong, I've just seen this happen a couple of times.

A cold solder joint is a bad connection--poor electrical connections can draw more current, cause heat, etc. (Same thing can happen inside the amp as would happen if you had a poor connection to power or ground).
Did you check the power and ground connections yet?
Any chance it's under warranty?

you know that some amps have protection against overheating. Maybe your were pushing the amp too hard, and it overheated... where is your amp located? its possible that the amp has such crappy ventilation it overheated.

I don't think the dumbell will hurt the amp, but the tape will kill it??????? Next time let it cool off and come out of thermal protection before attacking the amp.
