you NEED to have line drivers if you replace the stock amp. Are you getting a crackling sound from your right tweeter? Trust me, the line drivers do a world of difference when adding/changing amps with the TSX and keeping the stock HU. I'm not sure what brand my line drivers are and i'll try to find out for you but i know that Phoenix Gold makes some good ones.

I have a cheap P.I.E. LOC the shop installed. The noise comes out sometimes. It's not constant.

so how do the doors sound?

I am concerned with the increase of power and bass to the front components that some serious rattles will occur.

Did you dynamat anything???

there are not rattles in my doors now, i did use a dynamat speaker kit for the front doors when they installed the components. there was some rattles before with the stock stuff though.

JiggaMan:

i'm 90% sure i'm going to pick up 4 MB Quarts RCE216's for my TSX. you mentioned that the installer had to do some modifications to make them fit. do you know to what extent he had to mess with the doors?

and how is the midbass from the 6.5-inchers when mounted in the factory locations? i listened to the RCE216's in a store and really liked them, but that doesn't necessarily mean they'll sound the same in a car. thanks!

I'm really impressed by mine. I still have stock rear doors speakers. But the PCE 216 components up front definately kick ass. The only real difference between the PCE and RCE is that the PCE has a 1 inch tweeter and the RCE has a 3/4. Not sure how much of a difference in sound quality there is between the two. I'm going to get the RCE 216s for my rear doors when i have some more cash to burn. As far as modifications for the doors go to make them fit. i think that the installer has to cut some of the sheet metal to allow the bigger magnets to fit. other than that they fit perfectly. i'm not sure exactly how he was able to fit the one inch tweeters in the dash and still use the stock grill covers, i thought that was a nice touch though.

why not? i want to replace all the stock speakers, so it only makes sense to replace them with identical or nearly identical speakers (same crossovers/drivers = balanced soundstage)

you think?

just think about it this way. When you go to a concert or to the movies, where are the speakers? they are DIRECTLY in front of you. why do you think this is? music is best reproduced by the speakers when they are in front. in the car, there are already many limitations, because they are down playing by your ankles. also, one speaker is closer to you than the other. now when you add MORE speakers behind you, you will bring the soundstage BEHIND you. you think that will sound good? my suggestion is go find a dealer that carries some good home audio equipment and listen. that will give you a good idea as to how music is suppose to be reproduced. now of course no car audio system could sound as good, but there ways to make it sound close. the reason im telling you all this is because you are really dumping alot of cash for no reason. if you live close to the houston area ill let you listen to my setup and a few of my friends, and you can decide what is better.

totally understand what you're saying, tuan. as i plan to be driving around friends quite a bit, sometimes on long road trips, i feel selfish not putting in rear-door speakers when i can simply fade to the front when i'm alone. however, since my savings took a hurting thanks to the TSX's downpayment, maybe i will just put in fronts and subs and wait to see if anyone in the backseat complains.

well, you can leave the stock speakers in the back or upgrade to something not to expensive. two sets of components for the front and back isnt too wise imho. just keep it simple, and get some nice front stage components, a 4 channel amp, and a sub. if you want more tuning abilities get a 4 channel amp to biamp your front stage, and a single mono amp for your sub.

spend most of your mula on the front stage since you will be the one listening to your system most of the time.
