Newbie looking for SMALL Sub Enclosure Pics and Ideas
Hi all -
I just purchased a 2002 TL-S. I am planning to move my old stereo to this ride, but I have some questions regarding the Sub. Currently have Kenwood Head Unit and Changer, Polk Separates (6.5" and tweets), 8" Kicker Solobaric, and Sony 4x75 + 1x150 amp.
Anyway, I am a "family guy", and I have to leave room in the trunk for things like strollers and port-a-cribs (seriously). I cannot spare the space I would like for a sub. I really need to think small here.
I am looking to upgrade to a 10" (likely) or 12" sub, as the 8 just wasn't enough. I don't want to turn heads at stoplights (anymore) - I just want nice, clean sound with a decent soundstage and imaging.
I am looking to put a sub in the side "pockets" in the trunk, similar to this pic I have attached (borrowed from this forum - I hope the owner doesn't mind).
Anyone have any other ideas I can use? Also not sure where to mount the amp in this scenario - I don't want to ding it up with luggage.
I appreciate all replies.
Thanks!
- Mike

are u gonna keep that amp or change to another? If u are gonna keep that amp get a fairly efficent woofer that dosnt require much air space. I am thinking somethign like the polk gnx, the carbon fiberlookin woofer. I belive it requires a small box and only need about 150 watts to move. anything else let us know. make a amp rack against the back seat or on the side of the trunk and mount the amp there. My amp rack is on the passengerside wall of the trunk, so if I need the whole trunk I just take my subwoofer out and still got the whole trunk. My jack stand and tool are in with the spare tires.

Check out the IDQ line of subs from Image Dynamics. Their 10's only need a .25 to .50 cubic foot box. They are known to have very good sound quality.
