new radio and changer?

i am wondering if I can put a different radio and add on a changer to my 99 tl. Will I still be able to control the radio from the wheel?
Is there something that can be done to make the front where the factory radio is after replacing to still give it that neat look? I'm not looking to spend a really high amount for the radio and changer I'm just looking for good quality and good sound.

I want to get an mp3 changer for the car and I don't know of any that can simply convert to fit with the factory radio.
Anyone have any advice?

there are a couple of companies that offer an adapter to allow the factory controls on the steering wheel to work with new headunits...the main thing is that you buy a headunit that allows the use of an infrared remote control.

as for the dash panel surrounding the new headunit, that will have to be custom made.

in a previous thread, i mentioned that alpine makes an mp3 changer as well as an adapter to convert the ai-net connector on this changer to the style of the m-bus connector. this means that you should be able to attach this to your stock headunit if you the additional required adapter. unfortunately, i have not tried this yet and i guess no one really will...maybe you might be tempted though!

I am about to install a Premier DEH940MP head unit this weekend which plays MP3s and WMA files DEH-940MP . I have a sheet of burl wood ABS plastic that I will use to make the trim around the head. The head unit also has DSP on board, as well as adjustable hi/low pass for the fronts and rears, and variable sub level control too. Its an all out feast packed into a standard DIN chassis. Just a suggestion...

this is a really nice radio. definitely out of my budget but nice. where did you get the wood from? i can definitely get a local installer to put the radio in and trim the wood, but i have a feeling that they are going to either say "i cant find that wood" or charge me an arm and a leg for it.

I just found a Scosche double-DIN adapter for 1990 and up Hondas and Acuras. Has anybody tried this?

http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/SCOHA1562B

It comes with a junk cubby to mount below a single DIN head unit, or you can dispense with the cubby and chop out the divider to mount a double DIN unit.

I had one of these in my 90 Integra, and it was a perfect fit. I can't see Acura changing the mounting method much over the years, so it should work fine in our TLs....
