New Pioneer DVD Nav/Movie unit

Anyone check out the new Pioneer combination DVD Nav/Movie unit? The unit comes with the color monitor (duh!) and will function both as a DVD Navi unit and play DVD movies! I don't remember the exact model number (couldn't find it on Pioneer's website) but I did see it in the Pioneer catalog that a Pioneer rep was handing out to my bro when they were discussing business.

Just food for thought for you non-navi TL/TL-S owners...

The model is Pioneer AVIC-9DVD. It doesn't come with a screen, but can be interfaced with many Pioneer options, like AVD-W6010 a 6.5" widescreen. Here are a couple pictures of the navi screen from Pioneer's press release:

Okay, it helps if I actually read the catalog instead of just looking at the pictures!!

Anyways, it's still a cool unit solely for the fact that it can do two things (DVD nav and movies) in a single unit. Correct me if I'm wrong but even Alpine's current "all in one" solution requires separate components in order to do navi and watch DVD movies on the same screen...dunno yet if Alpine plans to bring out a unit to match the Pioneer one.

Sounds like a reasonable choice; however, my post was meant more for those current TL/TL-S owners who don't have the Acura navi, or perhaps future buyers of either car who would like to know what options are out there.

The Acura navi is probably head and shoulders above the Pioneer one, but as far as getting a combo NAV/DVD movie package goes, the Pioneer one is much more elegant than the Acura NAV/video-in-my-navi setup, IMHO.
