Subs are easy but new head units are not so easy. I gave a couple tips on wiring up a sub amp in this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10326 Try a search for more specific info.
I'm moving this thread to the Audio and Electronics forum where more people will see it.

Here are some of the straightforward options:
1) Adding a sub to the existing system. It replaces the 6x9 subs (see the thread Dan posted). The signal comes from the 6x9 speaker wires and thus uses the factory amp's crossover and is non-fading bass.
2) Add an MP3 player to the factory head unit. See the sticky thread at the top of the A&E page. If you want to use a DIN indash MP3 player instead of a portable, get the bracket for the OE MP3 disc player from the dealer.
3) You can keep the factory head unit and replace the amp (an all the speakers).
4) You can do #3, and run the factory head unit into your aftermarket head unit's AUX input (if it has one) (using the bracket for the MP3 player, or making a custom in-pocket install).
5) At least one poster has totally not used the factory head and installed an all-new system. The factory head unit stays in place. The new head unit can go inside the pocket. You can get steering wheel controls with an adapter. If you read these threads you can find the adapter - I don't remember...
