need some help

ok...just got hired at best buy so i plan on using my discount to upgrade my system. only problem is, i'm new at this and i have absolutely no idea what brands/sizes/products etc to get.

let me explain what i'm looking for

i'd like to get an amp and some subs, but i don't need something that will shake my spoiler off. i want a system that with some bass that sounds CLEAN and CLEAR but doesn't neccesarily have to be super loud. clarity is the key word here, don't want my system to sound like crap when i crank it. again, doesn't have to be monstrously loud as long is at has a decent amount of bass and remains clear.

second, i've had my eye on those dvd players w/ the pop out screens for a while now. however, i want one that will possibly fit in blank slot (that weird little compartment that looks like it could hold cds or something) in the non-navi console. which brands fit? anyone have pics? i think i remember someone having a video of a dvd player like this.

finally, if i decided to replace the head unit what brand would you suggest. i like the sony one but again, i don't know much about this stuff. also would the aftermarket head unit look retarded after the install (cuz our oem headunit is so big)?

thanks in advance guys

OK. I just came back from Best Buy so I know what brand they carry.

Amps:
Rockford Fosgate: Powerfull. good for subs but dont sound clean enough for components.

Jensen: Dont even go there.

Sony: OK brand if you could stand the design.

Lighting Boltz (or something like that): I have no idea.

Pioneer: I dont know. I had bad experience with them so I wouldnt comment on them.

Screen: The only one I saw was a Pioneer in dash motorized screen and DVD player. It would fit in the Note holder as you want but requires major modification. StreetEffect estimates from 850 up to 1500 in labor. If you want pics, go to the TL site and search for Tim's (Snook789) ride.

HU: I like the high end Pioneer models and heard good things about them. The Sony ones is ok, again, if you could stand the design (why do they make the Xplod series so ugly?). How your setup looks pretty much depends on how good your installer is. I dont expect much from Best Buy in-house installers. I doubt that they can even install a HU in the CL cuz there is no dash kit avai. I dont think they would go out of their way to make a custom faceplate (are they capable?).

Above are my opions on what out there at Best Buy. Good luck in your pursuit for great sound.

NO. You get a 10%-15% employee discount + first to get to displayed + open box items (this is what really counts).

My advice....shop somewhere else. Best Buy and your requirements are oxymorons.

For what you'd pay at Best Buy even with your discount, you could put a nice system together for about the same.

What's your budget?
How much of your trunk are you willing to give up?

ok say i shop somewhere else. what brand would you recommend for the subs and amp? also, how much does a custom install usually cost? if possible i'd like to keep it less than a thousand.
