you can cut the door or you can just place the spacer over the hole and drill.

Depending on which Alpine type-s speaker you have there are 2 solutions.

1. For the coaxial type-s there should be an adapter plate. You need to break off the pieces that protrude from the ring itself. (you can use a hammer and flat head screwdriver to get them off). There are two triangle protruding pieces. Directly under one of them is 2 holes, the one on the right lines up with the hole in the door that once held the release for the stock speaker. From there, the rest should line up. Use the spring clips that are provided and place them behind the metal so they hold the adapter in place when screwed in. YOu will probably need to space the plate out a little bit from the door....I picked up some dynamat and just cut 2 rings the same size as the adapter plate to space it out.

2. The component type-s speakers have a 1 inch adapter that mounts perfectly to the stock set-up all you need to do is place it in the 3 holes and screw it in to secure it. Much easier than the coaxials.
