Navi Voice w/Aftermarket Head Unit?

Hello.

Has anyone here come up with a fix that allows the voice from the navigation system to work with an aftermarket head unit?

I would like to put a DVD system in my car, but do not want to sacrifice the Navi audio.

Lastly, does anyone know if you lose the OnStar sound as well by replacing the factory head unit?

Thanks.

All I want to know is if I can change the voice of the navi. I have a girl that I know that's willing to lend her voice to me.

Snapple, how about adding a voice to the navi that says "YOU IDIOT !!! YOU HAVE JUST MISEED THE TURN !!!"

EmuMessenger, so far I have not heard any yet. You might be able to hack it and install an addtional speaker(s) just for the navi.

Just a thought.

Cheers !!!

There is a modification for 2000+ Honda Odyssey's to keep voice prompt...and should work for the TL also. If you already didn't know the factory DVD Nav is made by Alpine and very similar to their NVE-N852a aftermarket unit. That said here is the low down via Alpine Tech Support--------
"Adding the KAX-551n to a 2000 Honda Odyssey
When adding an Alpine stereo to a 2000 Honda Odyssey, the audio of the factory navigation will disappear due to the intergration to the factory audio system. To regain the voice promp audio back in the vehicle, you can use a KAX-551n. Use the illustration below to find the wires in the harness which are located behind the factory navigation ecu under the passenger seat"
Since I don't know how to post the diagram on here I will just give some info on it-------looking at the rear of the navi plug at the ECU (main unit where you load the DVD) in the top row at the far right you should see (2) wires which are the voice prompt output from the ECU the farthest to the left will be the (+) Signal out (white/green) and the one directly to the right of that is the (-) Signal out (white/green)
"Use a standard RCA end and solder it to the low level output coming from the back of hte factory navigation"
I know this may sound a bit confusing but it should be the same for a TL-------they share the same DVD/Navi with the ODyssey....if yah have any questions let me know...oh and forgot to mention the KAX-551n is an amplified speaker----similar to that of a hands free kit.
