Msg for Streetz or anyone qualified!

I spoke with the local alpine center--its also an audio shop.. Well he said there are some cards behind the seat and alot of stuff I didnt understand. He said that if I wanted to operate a system successfully that I would need a new HU and everything due to the fact that factory system is half ohm and it would screw up everything and eventually it would burn out. Im not sure what to think? Streetz, you guys are very knowledgeable along with members of the forum. Im not sure what to think? Please help. I need some highs, and mids. I have two twelves in the trunk. Someone also has mentioned that there is an eq behind the dash? whats all that about also. Thanks in advance for replying.

So basically, you want to change your door speakers, correct? IT's not that you CAN'T just change them, but the sound output will most likely sound odd due to the low resistance of the factory system. There is, however, NO PROBLEM, keeping the factory headunit and running an aftermarket amp to your new speakers. You can wire the amp BEFORE the factory EQ or even after it, but you will get BETTER sound if you go before it.

Yeah, definitely wire it before the EQ...an EQ messes with the audio anyway, and I preferably like a pure wave going into my amps. Street, what is the impedance the speakers are running at exactly? I don't work with Bose car products, so I have no idea...

It's supposed to be 1ohm, but I would venture to say it's more like 1/2

Ewww... .5 ohm? Yep that does it, Bose needs to stay out of car audio. Instead of selling their soul to the devil of audio that is Bose, Acura needs to put a nice Infinity or JL system in there...
