and if its like their new MDX kit, its got a great feature that allows the head to mount reccessed so that the face will be flush with the dash and not stick out; an absolutely necessary design if you want a clean install.

I too will confirm the kit. I talked to Metra this morning and the 99-768 is the kit for the 1999 and up TL. They also just released one for the Acura MDX as well. I called my local installer and he can get Metra. His distributor did not have the TL kit yet but, is expecting it any time. He did have the kit for the MDX so, the kits do exist. My kit for the MDX will be here tomorrow. If you have a good source for Metra parts, they might be able to find the TL kit. I know that they are available from Metra, it is just a matter of finding a distributor who has them or a store who buys straight from Metra. My concern now, what will this do to Streeteffectz's kit and my free kit from them. I guess we will see.

BTW...The MDX kit is $29.99.

I was waiting on you guys to respond to all this. Are you going to scrap the kit idea all together or are you still going to make one? I still think your kit would be a much stronger kit however, no one can blame you know for backing out. Be hard to sell your $100+ kit against a $30 Metra kit. I guess it all depends too on how good their kit looks. I am sure someone in the next week or so will have one with some pics.

I have 2 Metra kits on order only because the shop that is getting told be that the kit is only 15$ea. I figured I would get ASAP just in case everyone starts to snap them up. If the Street EFX is better looking and more solid I would still purchase it as well.

We aren't going to scrap the kits, but we will only make them for custom applications like housing screens, dual single dins, etc etc. And that's just it, we have no market for a kit that sells for $15, other than us doing them for custom applications.

AcuraX2, we will finish yours if you'd like, or we'll purchase you the kit and send you a few extra goodies for being a good sport and letting us keep your factory headunit for so long. The person who's supposed to come and let us get the bracketing correct called today and is supposed to schedule to come in.

Does it allow us to install the CD tray on top of the HU?

Also, are they now available for pick up at any Circuit City, or do you have to special order it?

Thanx chow...Man that is going to look ugly...I wanted that CD tray space...For those who have the kit, does it look easy to modify so that the CD tray can be installed? Thanx.

Also, is there anywhere else but circuitcity that carries the kit?

not sure if any other stores carries it, the din is to high on the kit to mod the tray in there, but you could put it at the bottom, the tray is its own piece of plastic

Hey guys. The pics hellas posted are of my MDX. I have not got the TL kit just yet. The MDX kit is a really good fit. It looks great. The color does not quite match but, it could be painted if you are very picky. I think it is great. If the TL kit is like that, you would not be dissappointed.

That is a snap in trim ring that came with the kit. Some installs probably would not use it. It filled in the gaps nicely for me.

My wife picked me up a TL kit at Circuit City tonight. It looks to me like this kit will require the CD tray but, I am not for sure. If it does, I am in trouble because StreetEffectz still has my radio. If it does need it, I will not be able to install it. I should know more about it tomorrow and maybe have some pics.

I am not sure if I will need it or not but, StreetEffectz has sent my stuff back to me. It should be here early next week. They decided to just abandon the kit idea. Can't really blame them. But thanks for the offer Shawhite.

if there is only one product number it has to keep the cd tray because then they would have to make two kits. the way the navi and cd tray take up the same space and only having one kit means the cd tray will stay and it will be single din only unless you modify the lower tray area.

if you remember ron's kit was going to be two choices one with nav and one without nav. if you wanted to keep your cd tray you would buy the one for the nav even though you dont have nav.

On my 2000 TL without navi, you do indeed need to keep the CD tray. Streets sent mine back today so, hopefully it will be here around middle of next week. Until then, there is no point in taking stuff apart.

personally i really wanted to see how good rons kits was going to look... i am not a big fan of the metra kit... it looks cheap just like all the other dash kits... it does not have the same texture as the stock tl dash and does not match in color... that i why i am still going to custom fab min out of the woodgrain plastic from selectproducts...

we all want to see wtf is looks like for the tl. also an installed pic would help with the color issue.

I got my radio back from Streets today. I am hoping to try out the kit in the next day or two. I like the way it mounts up to the CD tray. To me, it looks like a better match than the one for my MDX. I will try to have pics in the next couple of days.
