Looking for aftermarket electrical connector info
I am new to the message board and somewhat new to the car so perhaps this has already been asked/answered. I would like to start by replacing just the OE power amplifier. Eventually everything will probably be replaced but doing things in steps should be easier on the wallet.
Is there an electrical connector out there that would plug into the factory harness (at the power amplifier connector) that has a pigtail on the other end to make it easier to hookup an aftermarket amplifier? Brand name? Model number?
I would assume that the factory amplifier wiring harness plug is "female" since it has the 12V power line for the amplifier. Therefore a "male" aftermarket plug would be needed.
If no aftermarket plugs are available then certainly I could cut up the factory wiring harness but I would like to preserve the factory harness for when I get rid of the car - that way I could easily put the stock stuff back in it before I sell it.

I changed out my whole system (except for the head unit). I kept all the factory wiring (including the factory harness and the plug for the amplifier). I simply soldered my "new" speaker and amp wires to the factory harness (so then I can trim them off, and go back to stock when the time comes to sell it). I left the OEM amp in place, and simply don't plug in the harness to it.
Oh, yeah. For the aftermarket amp, I ran a new power cable directly to the battery.
