Post Line Output Converters

What is the purpose of line output converters, and how do you adjust them to have the best overall sound with minimal "hiss"?. Should the gain be set at low with the gain on amp set on high? Thanks!

good q. i asked this a while ago with zero responses

i have the gains on the line converter half way, and the gain on my amp 1/4 up. if you put the gains on the converter too low, youll get hiss. if you put them too high, youll hurt the line converter

play with them. try not to have ANY of the gains extremely high or extremely low
