Exclamation Kickpanels

I got in my kickpanels for the new accord and they fit pretty good. Passenger side is perfect. Drivers side the brake is real close to the mid when it is set, and the dead pedal is almost gone but Qlogic gives you a new small one to install. Can't wait to drop some Focal's in them!!!

yea...the more i look at it, it doesn't seem to convenient...i think that custom kicks would be much better...but then again...more expensive. Check out www.woofersetc.com for your speakers.

They are supposed to be like that. Nice...now I can get me a set to install some Focals in it too.

Even custom kicks, you will lose your dead pedal space. I can't believe they fit without any modifications to it.

Thanks for being a guinea pig

nice nice

they take up too much room for me

can you see the empty spaces around the drivers side kickpanel? or do you have to make an effort to see it?

i might have done this rather than spend hours making those damn spacers for the door speakers

like someone else said.. thanks for testing . I wonder if the tweeters would sound better down there or on the sail panel behind the side mirrors. hmm.

It sounds the best when it is as close to the mids as possible. Also, the imaging will be awesome. If you put the tweeters in the little mirror pod, it will put the imaging off of the center and create side biased sound.

Time correction is great, only for one person (usually the driver) listening in the car and sucks for the rest. You want to try to create a nice sound stage with good imaging for both front seat passengers....unless you only drive yourself with no front passengers.

my only issue with tweeters down low is that sometimes, u get the sense that the music is coming from below you since tweeters have a tendency to be very 'focused' in their projection.

how much space would kickpods take up? could you just get a little angle in the stock door...i.e. kickpod in the door. so, that your foot/leg room isn't taken up, but where the stock speaker would go...it's a custom enclosure? that'd be sweet!

You have to aim the tweeters correctly and tune your system right. You'll have to do alot of trial and error to get the sound perfect. Tweeters will only sound "focused" at extremely loud volumes. When you tune it right, you will not be able to localized where the sound is coming from. It should have a soundstage at eye level and the vocal should be dead center and with good depth.

do the kickpanels come prepainted to match the interior of a TL-S or do you have to color match them?

I believe they come pre-matched to the Accord's interior color. If yours is ebony, that it will match perfectly like ValueTL's.

If you can afford it, get waveguides. Your kickpanels would be
midbass, and the midrange & his come from the guides. For low
bass, get subwoofers (the factory Bose on the rear shelf doesn't
cut it). If you think imaging with kickpanels are good, you ain't heard waveguides. Definitely recommend them!!

Waveguides take alot of tuning to make it sound right. Right off the bat, it will sound "hollow". Also, you need a dedicated amplififer for the waveguides, then another for the midbass, and another for the sub.

true, guides do take a lot of tuning (you will need 1/3 per octave EQ), but the end result (when done correctly) will always sound more accurate in terms of sound stage and imaging than conventional speakers in stock locations.

If you're going this route, the best EQs are: Alesis, Rane or Phoenix Gold EQ232. All are excellent (the first two EQs more for serious audiophiles). Stay away from Audio Control EQTs - too noisy.
