OK guys I made the big step and bought a Whistler DE3300 Radar Detector (www.whistlergroup.com) and found out that you can trade in your old detector (anybrand working or not) and get healthy discount for ordering it online.... I think I saved about $50.

Anyway getting to my question:

This Detector has outside sensor (to be placed in grill) and inside box that beeps or talks, and I was wondering if anyone has used the Push in Released Note pad in the dash for some other electronic device. I am wanting to cut rectangle out to install the Whistler DE3300 Inside box in that Note Pad area so it would look like part of the dash.

Does anyone know how to cut out a rectangle in that Push in Release note pad in the dash?? Has anyone done it before, or is there a customizer or maker of something that can be used to replace the in-Dash note pad, that I can cut and fit the Whistler DE3300 into it?

friend of mine that I emailed today about this question suggested that I could use the CD holder of a 2001 Acura 3.2 TL as it fits in same place and only costs $12. It then could be customized to hold the Radar Detector. $12 is alot cheaper than the $75 for the Yellow sticky note holder from the CL.

I am thinking that this is good idea, but is there a stereo installer that could do the cutting for me so that it did not look like an amateur had hacked at it?

Or is there any other suggestions
