JL W7 subwoofer good mids? hype?

I've been running a JBL Bp600.1 amp (600watt rms) and a Infinity perfect 12.1 subwoofer.

its a decent setup however, I've had it for 4 years and I think the subwoofer is slowly dying in terms of SQL...moving parts and all....

i've been thinking about getting more good mids now out of songs.. my computer speaker/sub which has probably a crappy 6 or 7 inch woofer puts out some decent mids that i'd normally don't hear from the 12" in the car...probably due to its larger cone.

my question is, i've been looking at the JL W7...maybe the 10" or 8".... does anyone know if this will give me that good mid bass that I'm looking for....

i mostly listen to rap/hip-hop and the 12" is nice and all..but SPL is no longer my priority.... i want to hear decent mids now....

and most likely, i will just pair the old amp with a single W7....

Mids are done by smaller woofers. and I would say get a decent set of components in the front doors. I front door speakers sound like mini subs when i turn off my W7. But if u buy a w7 with the intentions of it giving off mid bass you will be upset.

Also what kind of car do u have

I agree with DND. Would like to add though, if mid bass is a concern of yours, you should properly deaden your doors before installing new speakers in them. Will dramatically increase the mid bass performance. most people would be amazed at the midbass performance of a good 6.5" driver in a properly deadened door. Ideally, you'd like to approach this the opposite of how you are. Get the system sounding nice without the sub, then use the sub for the low stuff the door speakers just wont do.

Third w/ DND. To provide appropriate mid-bass, you need a decent component door speaker, & a good amp to power it. The smaller woofers provide the sounds you're looking for, but unfortunately the stock amp is too small to produce the right sounds.

I was amazed when I heard my car with a real amp in it the first time. Its night & day. The TSX is the first car I ever put a multi-channel amp in to power the cabin (my previous 2 cars I just added a sub to) and I don't think I'll ever own another car I don't do this to.

a) alpine SPX series
b) diamond Hex series
c) any Focal
d) any rainbow
