One of my friends, who is 'auto-savvy' said that JL Subs should never be run in pairs, but rather in odds (ie, 1 or 3 at a time, not 2). He didn't give me any explanation, but rather he heard it from some sort of audio/video installer. Is this true? or is he full of old wives tales??
thanks.
BTW, I have stock everything in a 1997 2.2 CL.
It's not BOSE though. Don't know what it is. Looking to upgrade soon. Might take it one step at a time. might have this car for another 3+ years, and I want to enjoy music while I have it.
thanks.

Burning Brakes
this is an old idea from way back when..... way back when the original w6's came out, they were dual 6 ohm, that way if you ran just one, u can wire it to be 3 ohm, which you can really squeeze out the juice from your amp which isn't as harmfull to most bridged amps as running it at 2 ohms, and if you had three you can wire it to run at 4 ohm which is really stable on an amp that's being bridged, lots of people i kno ran 3 w6 12's back then.....

amps see impedence(s), not number of subs, so just make sure your math is right and you know the difference between series, paralell, and series-paralell wiring and as long as your amp sees an impedence it can handle, you're all set. just remember that the lower impedenced your amp sees may make a bit more power, the sound will suffer due to a lack of the ability for the control the cone movement as well as in highes impedences. jps
