JL Audio Marine Products

Well this isn't really a car question, but one for a boat. I am looking to add a little thump to my boat this season, and was wondering if any of you had any thoughts on the JL marine products. I am hoping to add 2 10" subs(links below) and an amp to run those. I am a complete noob to stereo equipment, and could use some help.

The subs would be in direct contact with water from time to time, so they need to be marine grade. However, the amp will never be in contact with water, and I am wondering if there is a different amp I can use other than a marine amp. I have read that marine audio stuff can be overpriced, and am wondering if there is a cheaper option I can use for an amp.

10" sub M10IB5-4 $250.00

JL Amp e4300M $350.00

I was also thinking about adding in another battery for good measure(I am currently running two)

This was another option suggested to me for a sub ($250.00?)

If you have any other suggestions, I'm listening. Could use some suggestions on speaker wire, and any other accessories you see fit.

Thanks

i have a feeling that the enclosure of the subs will be most important to get the most out of them, unless they are made for free-air use. I would get a regular amp if there is no contact with water, but I know completely nothing about marine-audio. any boat forums?

Actually, I found a guy on a boat forum who installed the JL subs/amps, and he loves the way his system sounds. The subs are made for free air or an enclosure, and I went with a non-marine amp as it wasn't needed. So this is what I ended up going with.

2 - 10" sub M10IB5-4

1 - JL Audio E1400D amp(non-marine)

Tsunami 2.0-farad capacitor

1 amp wiring kit from Crutchfield.

And I added two optima blue top batteries to give me a total of four.

What the finished product looks like

I'll post some pics of my own boat whenever my installer can get this done. Probably won't be for two weeks or more.

Hey... I work at a car audio store so yeah i would be some help... Well JL Audio Marine speakers in my opinion cant touch infinity marine speakers. Look at the 602M those are nice and Infintiy has wake boards where it comes all in 1 it has 2 speakers and tweeter as well. JL audio is nice were authorized dealers with them as well and the infinity marine speakers is what i do all dauy and everyday. JL is also nice but their prices are fairly expensive. Never sold any of their JL MARINE SUBS but what i have sold is the Rockford Fosgate Marine subs and those are nice!!! as far as amp wise if you do, do a different route for sure I WOULD DO THE JL 6 CHANNEL AMP!!! that this is SWEET AND IT IS MARINE BUT AGAIN... JL = NOT CHEAP!!! lol keep in mind PM if u have more questions
