JL 13.5 w7

I was wondering which amp will most suit for the JL 13.5 w7 and how many watts do I need. Do I need a cap for all those power running to the sub? What is the perfect setup?

Thanks

a JL 1000.1 is a necessity aa cap wont be necessary but perhaps a second battery would be wiser. A 13 W7 will overpower your treble and mid bass unless you have upgraded those speakers as well.

What kind of upgraded speakers do I need and could I have a volume switch for the amp to turn down the sub?

My 10W7 drowned out my Bose speakers when the volume at 1/16!

Yes there is an additional bass knob that can be installed with your amp thatwill allow you to turn down the bass without having to go into the trunk. However as NickyPass said that subwoofer at the size of 10", not even the much more powerful 13.5 will drown out the bose speakers. While the bass gain will help it still would be too powerful at the lowest volume. The local dealer who sells the sub can put the sub in a box and then set it in your trunk and play the same radio that you play in your car at the same time to demonstrate this. Turn your radio up as loud as you want and have their volume at a minumum and you will notice how all you feel/hear is bass. To compensate and to gain high SQL sound quality level you would have to get new 6X9's and midrange and tweeter speakers in your door. Of course if you are a bass head than all of this wont matter as the 13.5 will kick ass.

By the way I have a 13.5 W7 and know from experience!

I dunno, with a jl 300/4 the bose speakers sound damn good.

Agreed, but they work with the w7's as long as you have another amp. what sucks is how expensive secondary speakers can be, not to mention how much the subs and install and mono amps are...to do it right is mind boggling :(

again, tho, i think that my w7's dont hit right...i still have to get a tv, rims, and either 2 500/1's or 1 1000/1. i also still havent brown breaded the hole ass end of my car or dropped it..i hate money :o

you think just an aftermarket radio will make them sound better? Alot of people have been telling me that once i get an aftermarket radio installed it will hit so much harder..heh..cause of the rca pre-out having so many volts.

yes

For sure...aftermarket head units provide 4 to 10 times the voltage of the stock deck....along with the fact that you get real RCAs....not converted signals.
