Installing subs and amp from a different car in my 04 TL
I have subs and an amp that i had in my old car, now i want to put them in my 04 TL.
Was wondering if i can replace just find the stock amp and sub with my stuff.
Where is the stock amp located on the 04 TL?
and does it have the remote/battery/ground wires hooked up to it?
or do i just need to run it direct from the battery?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

the stock amp is located in the front passenger kick panel under the glove box and next to the door. But you cannot use this amp to power an aftermarket sub, the remote wire i couldnt get to work correctly from the stock amp to power my after market amp either.
do you have any after market deck or hooking up the amp to stock head unit? you will need a line output converter ($25) from Best Buy.
I got power to my amp by running power cable down the driver side by "carefully" popping of the plastic runners near the floor panels and up thru the door hinge down into the hood to the battery. The remote wire for your amp is the white wire with red stripe up under the steering wheel. This wire is the power wire for the accesories(aka stereo, ac, etc.) if you turn the key two clicks...
all you do with the line output converter is splice into the correct wires from the converter into the rear sub from the trunk, this will give the correct signal to the sub. The other two wires are your speaker wires that will hook up to the sub.
Let me know if this is not confusing enough yet...

Also to answer your question, I wouldn't recommend deleting the stock amp, just use your aftermarket to power your sub. And if you do use a line output converter you can control the sub's level from the stock head unit
