i heard the w7 and i was way underpowered. so if you go that route you're gonna need a big amp. i wouldn't go with w3's. why not a w6? my preference is tight bass so i like 10" in a sealed box.

Nicky Pass:
I'd get 2 10w3's. More excursion than 10w6's. But they will need more space than 10w6's as a result.

liquid_x:
500W would grossly overpower a 12w3.

I would get <well, ha, I am getting> 2 12w3 with two 500/1 mono JL amps.

I got the chance to hear a w7 with a 1000/1 amp...awesome...had to get out of the demo car...my ears were secretly whispering "get out of here man"...hahha

What does the rest of your system consist of?

gmilian
Why not the W3's? IMO they are better than the W6's as an overall SQL subwoofer...

The rest of the system will come in about a month......a JL 300/4 Evolution 6.5 components for the front and JL 6X9s. I figured I'd do the sub first because the Bose doesn't sound all that bad

The box will be around 1.4-1.5 cubic feet......Sealed. The installer has 2 13W7s in his car and he said they sound better in a sealed box.......though ported boxers are louder!!!!!!

Have you talked to Austin about your JL stuff? His prices are very good. Why are you bothering with the 6x9's? If you are going to go with the subs first, I would get the pair of 10w3's. I think the W3's sound better and hit harder than the w6's.

I payed $1350 for mine... I'm curious to see what your trunk looks like. Post some pics when you get everything installed. I'm still waiting for my friend to get his digital camera fixed, so I can take some pics.

Of yeah... I'd recommend getting Dynamat

Holy mother you got ripped. Wish my guy was still selling to people other than me...the amp would've been $350 shipped and the sub $380 shipped.

500 for the sub and 500 for the amp (+tax) is a rip I looked all over the internet, and the best price I could find was $449, then add shipping, its around the same price. JL also won't honor a warranty if thier equipment if it is purchased over the internet!!!!

That's right. They won't. But you can get a warranty through the dealer (such as the one my guy offered) who will warranty it for just as long. Try usacaraudio.com in the future...you can bargain with them on JL stuff...depending on what you're getting. Still not great prices...but better than most. But don't worry about it man. The money's gone...be happy with what you got .
