i got some Focal 6x9. a question
i dont have my car to install them because of an accident. however, my question is: will a rockford amp pushing i think 35.5 rms gove them enough power? its a 4 channel amp and i will get some focal 6.5 for the front. will i need to upgrade the amp tp maybe 75 rms? and will i need any spacer for them?
i tested them them by hooking them to my mother's connect in her car and they sounded like crap.

Do the math.
The difference in SPL between 75W and 35W is about 3dB, which is at the edge of audibility. Is that enough? Why don't you hook up the amp you have and then make an assessment of how much louder you want it?

Tosh is right, there isn't that much diff. The probs might come if you push it hard, and clip the amp. Some nasty square waves will fry your speakers fast. If you had more headroom (even 3db) it would just sound better being pushed to the max. You really should see what it sounds like. I had some Polk Audio EX3s in my old car on 60 true RMS watts (bench tested power) and I had to keep the gain ALL THE WAY DOWN on the amp it was sooooo loud. Try it before you decide on anything.
Also, what kind of Rockford amp do you have and when did you buy it? Chances are it's putting out more than it says too. That 60 watt per channel amp I had was rated at 30x2@12v.
